Read-a-thon is a Success. Thank You to Our Readers and Supporters!

Thanks to all who participated in our first Brackett Read-a-thon, it was wildly successful! We raised over $21,000 in library funds and student prizes. Not only did tons of students get really excited about reading (we had an 80% participation rate), but the school community contributed beyond our expectations.

In addition to the planned library renovations, we will be able to put the funds toward much needed library equipment, resources and curriculum. Stay tuned for exciting updates!

Parent Forum: Eight Things You Cannot Do for Your Children (But Wish You Could)

Come to the next Arlington Parent Forum where Michael Thompson will discuss "Eight Things You Cannot Do for Your Children (But Wish You Could)."

Wednesday, March 15th 7-8:30pm at the Ottoson Middle School

In the U.S. today, we have a generation of adults who are dedicated to doing a great job of parenting. They want to produce healthy, happy children who are athletically skilled, socially accepted and academically successful. There is nothing wrong with these parental ambitions. However, there is an assumption that this kind of embedded parenting always adds psychological value.

In this talk, Dr. Thompson will explain the eight things that parents wish they could do for their children, but in the end they cannot.

Michael G. Thompson, Ph.D. is a consultant, author and psychologist specializing in children and families. He is the supervising psychologist for the Belmont Hill School and has worked in more than seven hundred schools across the United States, as well as abroad. He is an Arlington resident.
