Dear Kindergarten Parents:

Welcome to the Brackett School Community! Having your child start kindergarten is an exciting moment in your family’s history. While much emphasis is put on preparing children for this milestone and ensuring their smooth transition to a new setting, parents too experience some adjustments to a new schedule and a different level of access to their children throughout the day.

This guide, created jointly by kindergarten parents and teachers, is intended to help you through that transition by providing you with useful information related to your child’s new routines, as well as the opportunities available foryou to become actively involved in your child’s new school. Throughout the guide, wehave included specific tips from parents who have offered their insights to those who arenew to the school.

The guide is organized into two parts:

Open communication between teachers and parents is an important contributor to student success in school. You should feel free to contact your child’s teachers with questions or concerns throughout the year. We also encourage you to take advantageof the numerous opportunities to get involved at the Brackett School. We welcome your participation in whatever form is possible – volunteering in your child’s class, attending events as a spectator, or offering other supportive services to assist with events.

We hope that this guide will answer many of your questions about life in kindergarten at the Brackett and that you and your child enjoy a smooth transition to a new life in elementary school.

Best wishes,

Kindergarten Staff
